Results of May 4, 2003 Tournament

Tournament #1 May 4, 2003 Mississippi River Pool 13

The first tournament for district 73 was anything but perfect. We launched at 6:00am from the Mississippi Palisades State Park ramp in Savanna, IL. The weather kept several people at home so the turn out was somewhat light. The day was very windy with storms threatening. Fortunately, the rain held off until the last hour or so and the predictions for 40-50M mph gusts of wind did not happen. Even so the wind we had was a steady 20mph.

A few boats decided to stay close and try to fish small backwater lakes that were protected from the wind. This, however, proved to be the wrong strategy. The few boats that braved the elements and took the long trip through rough water were rewarded for the rough ride and having to fish in the wind all day. The only boats to catch keeper size fish came from the same area down river.
