Tournament #3 June 21, 2003 Mississippi River Pool 13
The fishing during the 3rd tournament of the year for District 73 was very good with 4 limits brought in. Everyone caught good numbers of fish but most were under the 14" limit. The day was enjoyable with great weather and good fishing. There were several different patterns working but the big bag was caught in the Spring Lake area again.
Mark Behnke of Dubuque, IA took 1st place with a hefty bag of 5 bass that tipped the scale at 13.56lbs. Mark was fishing the Spring Lake area with partner Bill Sutton who took 3rd place honors with 5 fish weighing 10.24lbs.
2nd place went to Mike Blaesi of Donahue, IA who fished the Running Slough area to bring in 5 bass weighing 12.59lbs. 4th went to the newest member Scott Thompson of Cedar Rapids, IA with 8.16lbs and 5th to Ken Warren with a small limit at 7.42lbs. Ken and Scott fished the Running Slough and Lower Sebula Lake areas. Ken had threatened to drink river water if he was skunked again. Thankfully, we did not have to see that!
