Tournament #5 August 10, 2003 Mississippi River Pool 13
The fishing during the 5th tournament of the year for District 73 was good with the majority of anglers bringing in fish from a number of different patterns. The weather was great but a little on the warm side. After our first two, however, we won't complain.
Bill Sutton of East Dubuque, IL took 1st with a 5 bass limit weighing 11.23lbs while his partner, Jeremiah Bagwell from the Quad Cities area took 2nd and big bass honors with 4 fish anchored by a 3.25lbs fish. Bill and Jeremiah gambled with the lock to fish super-secret water on pool 12. I guess it paid off.
3rd place went to Mark Behnke of Dubuque, IA with 5 fish weighing 7.78lbs followed by his partner newcomer Shane Bryant of Rock Falls, IL. Partners Elliot Wamsley of Elmhurst, IL and Ken Warren of Olin, IA took 5th and 6th respectively. They spent most of the day in an area with water 8 degrees cooler than the rest of the river. Seemed like a good idea in summer but the keepers were hard to find.
