Tournament #6 August 30, 2003 Mississippi River Pool 13

The fishing during the 6th tournament of the year for District 73 was good but river conditions were tough. The Mississippi River is at the lowest levels in about 12 years. Props were churning up mud all day and some of the favorite spots were only available but running in on plane.

Ken Warren of Olin, IA took 1st with a limit of 5 bass weighing 10.15lbs. He also squeeked by Elliot Wamsley to take big bass honors with a 2.40lbs largemouth. Ken caught most of his keepers in Savanna Slough and Running Slough areas. All but one came on a 7/16 oz. white Strictly Bass spinnerbait pitched to the deadfall in shallow water.

2nd place went to Elliot Wamsley of Elmhurst, IL with 2 bass weighing 4.34lbs. Elliot caught his bass in the Savanna Slough area as well using spinnerbaits and crankbaits.

Thanks once again to the district sponsors: Strictly Bass Lures and Gander Mountain. Also, thanks to everyone who came out for this tournament and I hope to see you at our supertournament on September 20 and 21st. Hopefully the good weather and fishing will continue...

Ken with a small sample from the winning sack!

Elliot holds up a couple of nice bass as his father Robert looks on. This will earn him valuable AOY points!

Robert, he has had some bad luck this year. Keep your head up it can't last forever. Hey! Is that a ghost in the background?

Ok he is too small to compete but he is my favorite pre-fishing partner, Austin Warren age 7.

Hope to see those who have qualified by fishing 4 one-day tournamnets at our supertournament September 20 and 21st!
