Tournament #6 July 9, 2006
Mississippi River Pool 14 Sunday’s Pool 14 tournament for District 46 had everything you’d expect for a mid-July event. Air temperatures started in the mid 70’s and quickly climbed to 90’s on a clear and sunny day. Water temperatures were in the low 80’s in most places and water clarities varied greatly from location to location. Unfortunately, one angler’s bad luck turned into a winning ticket for another. Ken Warren was unable to bring his 9lb limit to the scales when his boat got personal with a rock in Pool 13. This opened the door for Director Chris DeVries to capture his first win of the season. Chris caught all of his fish on Zoom Horny Toad in a very shallow (12”-15”) backwater area. He noted the bite was fast and furious and that he caught upwards of 40 -50 fish. Only three of them were keepers though as he weighed 3 fish for 5.85 lbs. He would like to thank his sponsors, his family and COUNTRY Insurance & Financial Services. Second place was taken by Rick Cloninger. Rick weighed 3 fish for 4.70 lbs. Rick caught his fish on topwater in vegetation near current and in other “secret” locations. Third place was squeaked out by Elliott Wamsley, who also weighed the big fish of the day at 2.99 lbs. He weighed 2 fish for 4.56lbs. His fish were also caught in vegetation and wood in current, on a chatterbait. Thank you to all who fished, I will see you July 30 at Andalusia Harbor
