Tournament #3 June 24, 2006
Mississippi River Pool 10 The day was cool and overcast when the tournament launched and then began raining about midday. The river level had fallen in the last few days despite the regular rains we have received. The water clarity was much better than it has been in sometime and a few angler reported sight-fishing of a couple fish. Every one mentioned catching many short fish as well as a good deal of pike and a few drum. First Place, was claimed by local angler, Brian Hamann. He caught his fish amongst the eel grass using swim jigs early and then buzzbaits later when the rain started. Brian brought in the only limit for the day with 5 bass weighing 9.24lbs topped by the big bass of the day at 2.56lbs. Brian is sponsored by Hamann's Bait & Tackle. Second Place went to Olin, Ia angler, Ken Warren. He worked hard to put together a sack of 4 fish, even though he was on an unfamiliar pool. His fish weighed 6.47lbs but was a minute late to weigh-in so with the one pound penalty he scored 5.47lbs. Ken caught most of his fish on a white and chartreuse River FINatic spinnerbait from Strictly Bass Lures. The fish were all caught on submerged wood near grass in areas with running water. He is sponsored by Triton Boats, Evinrude, Strictly Bass Lures, Rejuvenade, Rod Wrap, and Davenport Boat and Marine. Our newest member, Zach Michael, claimed third place with 3 fish
weighing 5.03lbs. Unfortunately, he had to share in the Ken's late
penalty as Zach was his partner so his final weight was 4.03lbs.
From L to R: 2nd Place, Ken Warren; 1st Place & Big Bass, Brian Hamann; 3rd Place, Zach Michael.
