District # 46, District Championship
Mississippi River Pool 14

July 21-22nd, 2007

This weekend ten area anglers took off for two days of competition to determine the American Bass Anglers, Division 46 Champion. Weather conditions were ideal with cool start temps and comfortable temperatures throughout each day. Water was found to be stained in most area, but crystal clear waters could be found in backwater areas, temps ranged in the high 70’s to 80 degrees.

John “JJ” Patton, of Eldridge, IA, won this years Country Insurance & Financial Services Championship Trophy. JJ brought a limit of 5 fish for 10.26 lbs on day 1 and 3 fish for 5.91 lbs on day two. JJ’s two day total of 16.17 lbs was just enough to keep him in the lead to the end. JJ used a Brovarney Swim Jig to nab most of his fish from the weeds on pool 14. JJ would like to thank Brovarney Baits and Rock Valley Physical Therapy for their support this season.

Second place was earned by Mike Blaesi of Davenport, IA. Mike brought only one fish to the scales on Day 1 for 2.25 lbs, but weighed a limit of 5 fish for 13.04 on day two to give JJ a run for the money. Mike’s day two sack also included the Ducky’s Lagoon Big Bass of the tournament, a large mouth bass that weighed in at 3.65 lbs. Mike’s two day total was 6 fish for 15.29 lbs. Mike appreciated Mercury Marine and his Verado for getting him to the hot bite.

Third Place went to local favorite Roger Koopman of Andalusia, IL. Roger also found his day one bite to be slow with one fish for 1.95 lbs, but came back on day two with 5 fish for 10.02. That made a two day total of 11.97 lbs for him. Roger also fished a jig in the weeds on 14 for his keepers. Roger would like thank Gambler Boats, Pine Pointe Lodge, and Auto Trim and Sign for their support this season.

Thank you to all anglers who fished with American Bass Anglers Division 46 this season. Your participation is what makes this a great organization!
