The day started hot and muggy. Even before the sun
came up everyone was sweating but a breeze did come on early making the
day bearable. You could tell before the tournament started everyone
questioned how well the river would fish after the big flood we had over
the last few weeks. The flood of 1993 was on our minds as it had killed
fishing on the pool for several years and this time the water got even
higher. The day showed, however, we were all worried about nothing.
There is still grass everywhere and the pads are coming up so the bass
have plenty of cover.
At then end of the day the team of Chad Kerr and
Quinton Inghram topped the record field of 21 teams with 15.23lbs. The
reported catching their fish mid-pool on small spinnerbaits and plastics
in a variety of cover. Giant killer baits and calls, Rose's Bait Shop, &
Bi-State Contracting sponsor the team.
Second place went to David and James Son with
13.24lbs. David's regular partner, Ben Tripp, picked a bad tournament to
skip. The second place pattern was fishing wood and rock on south end of
pool with jigs.
In third place the team of Robbie Bigliazzi and Chuck
Davis with 12.53lbs while big bass of the tournament was caught by Mike
Waddell and Dan Goeke.
