The flood waters had finally receded to a manageable level so event number 1 for the US Angler's Choice team tournament circuit finally got underway for 2008 on May 17th. Regrettably the April event had to be rescheduled do to the high water and crazy spring weather. Fort Madison's ramp was still officially closed so the launch had to be moved to Hamilton, IL for this event and while it was a little tricky getting out of the creek in the morning all the channel markers were out and the wood removed by the afternoon. Not sure if the thanks goes to the city of Hamilton or a local boating club but thanks nonetheless.

Topping the field was the team of Tim Kipling and Darin Olin with a limit of  bass weighing 14.85lbs This earned them just over $1000 for a day of fishing! They reported catching fish on many different baits but the key to catching them was slowing way down and fishing the normal river bank where they found bass spawning. The team is sponsored by Farm King, First State Bank, & Farm LLC.

The runner-up spot went to Chad Kerr and Quinton Inghram with 12.94lbs. They are sponsored by Rose's Bait and Tackle, Thunder Baits, Bi-State Contracting, GK Calls, and Giant Killer Baits.

In the third place spot were Fasananh Phosy and his daughter Emily with 12.89lbs. Rumor has it she caught all of the fish!

Big Bass for the day was a 4.68lbs largemouth caught by Burlington Fireman, Brett Rudy.

I would like to apologize to the competitors for a computer issue that cause a several minute delay after weigh-in. Hopefully this will be the last time Murphy visits us this year.
